Expanded Central Sterilising Services Department is now open
Expanded Central Sterilising Services Department is now open
SHARE
The hospital’s newly expanded Central Sterilising Services Department (CSSD) is now operational and located next to the new operating theatres.
More than tripled in size, the CSSD team are equipped with the busy task of keeping reusable medical equipment clean for the Operating Theatres, the Campbelltown Hospital Dental Centre, clinical wards, and four external oral health clinics in the Macarthur and Wingecarribee region.
Using large instrument washers and steam sterilisers, the items go through a process of being cleaned, checked, documented, wrapped and then placed into the sterilising machines before being stored or reissued as required.
While adjusting to their new environment, the team reprocessed more than 12,550 instrument trays in July. Thanks CSSD for keeping it clean – we hope you enjoy your new space and additional equipment!
